Update on array:handmade style
Unfortunately, although I received tons of responses initially, only 30% of the chosen artists actually submitted their information to me by the deadline, so the project has been temporarily postponed while I either track down those artists or seek out additional submissions. If you're one of the few people who DID send me their stuff, I appreciate it and will keep you updated!

array: handmade style FAQ
-Why are you doing this?-
Because I love the handmade movement and want to support it in every way I can. With so many sellers now on Etsy, I know that it's impossible for me to see everyone's shop through my normal searching, so I decided on a call for submissions so I could see some new stuff! And of course, I am always interested in learning more about the people behind the shops, and I'm sure other people are too!
-Who can submit?-
Anyone! There are no requirements as to medium, number of sales, etc. You just need to have unique items, great product photos in your shop &, of course, the interest in participating!
-Will this be available in bookstores?-
Local bookstores perhaps, and maybe some independent shops elsewhere. But this will not be for sale in Barnes & Noble--at least not yet. This is mostly a labor of love for me, as I am doing everything on this project, from the initial concept to the design to the organizing submissions to coordinating the print runs. For now the book will be for sale on my website and other online means of distribution.
-So does that mean you are putting this together in Word and printing it at Kinko's?-
NO!
The book will be professionally bound and printed in full color on high quality semi-matte paper. The book will look like it was designed by a professional graphic designer--because it was. Me!
-Can participating artists buy the book at a discount?-
Yes--contact me if you are interested.
-How many artists are you accepting?-
25
-Can I help?-
Sure! If you'd like me to email you a flyer so you can help promote the project, just let me know!

array: handmade style
I am so pleased to announce an exciting new project!
array: handmade style
This is a book featuring profiles of independent artists and crafters. I am currently looking for artists who would like to be included! There are no requirements as to type of media or number of sales--I am interested in unique, well-made items, gorgeous photos and general pride for the handmade life!
If you are interested, please send me an email (plaidvalentine AT gmail DOT com) or comment here with your shop address and some info on yourself and why you would like to be included. I will be reviewing information for the next few weeks and will have a finalized list of the artists by 2/15.
If you are selected, you will have the opportunity to submit photos and text about you and your shop. If you need help writing/editing your text, that's fine (I'm a pro!) but the only thing I can't help you with is the quality of your photos. I will need press-quality photographs no smaller than 1000px wide. If you don't know what this means, feel free to ask but please understand that I will not be able to use your photos unless they are this size.
I am handling the design and production of the book.
About the book itself:
-Full color
-An aesthetically pleasing square size of 7x7 inches
-Soft cover
-Professionally bound & printed
The book will be released in March. It is currently available for pre-sale in my Etsy shop. Buying the book before its official release will earn you a mention in the Acknowledgement section, and also a discount off the regular price of $35. Purchase here
Participating artists have the opportunity to purchase the book at a discount here
Feel free to ask if you have any questions!

I'm back - almost
I've returned from my trip (which was fantastic) but have decided to take it easy for the rest of the month. I am still working on all existing orders, and also I've accepted a number of new orders this week despite the hiatus...so it goes :) Feel free to contact me before my "official" return if you have a project you'd like to work with me on, as chances are I can be persuaded...

Out of the "shop"
I will be in NYC until January 15. I will be checking my convos and emails, but I may not be responding. If you purchase an item while I am gone, you can get the ball rolling by submitting the appropriate design questionnaire (can be found in the links to the right) to me via Etsy convo or email (plaidvalentine AT gmail DOT com).
I will follow up with everyone the day I get back!
Xo,
kristen
